Let’s Talk About This C-Section

It’s been 2 weeks and I owe you guys this recovery post. You know that saying “don’t knock something till you try it”? That so applies here. You should see how I turned my nose up at folks that elected to have c-sections. I couldn’t understand why one would elect to have major surgery. But now, I get it. Chile, this was a breeze compared to my vaginal deliveries. I was so scared of dying from an infection as a result of the c-section that I never gave much thought to what the pain would be like. I really don’t have a secret as to how I recovered so quickly. I will say, that with four other kids running around the house, I couldn’t come in here being sick. I am a firm believer in speaking your intentions into the universe.

I was told that a good doctor takes his/her time and uses sutures instead of staples on the incision. I am forever grateful to my doc for taking her time. It makes all the difference. I remember after my vaginal deliveries I was scared to even touch down there because after all, a damn baby just came out!!! But this was way easier.

I will say that it is considerably less blood and this is because while they have you open, they wipe out most of the womb so there’s less blood coming down. Also, everything down there stays in tact. :) Can’t beat that!

Ciao!

Ummm, I had an emergency c-section the first time and felt like a SEPTA bus hit me. I pushed for a VBAC and it was a thousand times better…for me. The recovery for a c-section was killer. I couldn’t sit on the toilet unassisted. Add to that the diastasis recti condition (where your abdominal muscles don’t go back after delivery). I’m glad that you had a better situation.

Karla, that is horrible!! I must say that I didn’t think everyone had a speedy recovery like I did but I truly thought the worst was the possibility of infection and not so much the pain. I am glad you had a good VBAC though-there’s hope for me. (If I even considered having another baby) ;)
