Kitchen Safety: How Do You Keep The Busiest Place Safe
Good Monday morning mommies! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend-I did. I came across this story that gave tips on how to keep the kitchen safe while cooking with children and felt I needed to share. A few weeks ago, my nephew was at his grandmother’s house and a pot of corn somehow fell on his back. He suffered 2nd degree burns and it immediately made me revamp what I do in my own kitchen so such accidents don’t occur with us. I don’t have a fire extinguisher and I think I need one asap and a lesson on how to use it. I plan on reaching out to my local fire department so they can teach us how to use it and any additional fire safety tips. If they have such a program, I will use the Flip for this and post it to You Tube.
Ikea has a great product that I plan on picking up.
The Patrull cooktop guard is perfect for keeping little hands off of the stove. I tend to use the back burners when I can but when I get in Food Network mode, I use all and this would help tremendously. I have a door on the kitchen but you can enter from the dining room so it’s not like the door is a deterrent. You can never really be too careful and I have learned with children, they do everything you think they won’t do-despite threats and multiple warnings. My kitchen is the busiest place in my house so it’s important I employ these safety practices. Remember, prevention, not cure!!
Do you have any additional tips to add? By the way, thankfully my nephew is doing well. His back is healing nicely and it doesn’t look like he’ll have to get a skin graft. Have a look at the article and try to utilize some of their tips. Have a great Monday!
