A Month of Energy

You know the saying, March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. I want you to join with me and make the most of March’s promise of spring and refreshing potential. Today is the start of my “I’ve got a date to lose this weight” campaign. I have been putting off my exercise regimen for years. I start and then fall off but I have a date, and I am committed. That date is May 28th. My wedding anniversary.

I have to get started and I plan on providing weekly updates here and sharing with you the ups and downs of my mission. I currently weigh 198 pounds. That is crazy. When I weighed in today for the EAS Active 30-day challenge, I was shocked. I got so comfortable here; with people saying oh you carry it well. What in the hell? How do you carry all this fat well? This is about to change. The goal is to lose 30 pounds by May 28th. I really want to lose 48 pounds but we will save the last 18 for my birthday in August.

So here’s the plan, I will do the 30-day challenge using my Wii fit. I will go back to spinning at least 2 times a week and the same for yoga. I know how to eat so that is not the hard part. The hard part is getting moving. With the First Lady’s ‘Let’s Move’ initiative, my change of lifestyle couldn’t come at a better time. I haven’t gone shopping in months (well in my current size of 12) I have been shopping but I buy in my goal size. It may seem crazy but it is my incentive. Why shop at my current size when I won’t be this size for much longer?

March will be my month of energy. I know that by getting moving and eating properly, I will boost my energy tremendously. Here are a few tips I plan on doing:

  • pack a pair of comfortable shoes to change in to at work. Get outside and get some fresh air and take a quick walk. Sunlight increases the production of serotonin, which boosts your spirits.
  • I have been turning off the TV an hour before I go to sleep so that I get a better sleep.
  • Spring just happens to be my season because I love to garden. Author Alexandra Stoddard says “get sweaty, dirty and earthy” so I can’t wait to start planting and digging into the soil to get my creative juices flowing.
  • In the house, I stock up on peppermint and eucalyptus scents as they provide a quick energy boost and have been proven to naturally awaken your senses. Bath & Body works used to make a lovely candle with eucalyptus and bamboo that would give me a surge of energy but they called it quits on production so here’s what I bought this year:

    Momnoir this is great! I so need to focus on my workouts and eating. I don't eat bad but I may only eat once per day. I am committing with you. I am going to workout 5 days per week and make it a point to eat atleast 3 meals per day. I hope to lose 10 to 15 lbs by May 31st! thanks for sharing!

    Thanks for sharing…I am trying to lose weight before my birthday in October. Actually, I have started working out again today. I am tall and I have lived by the whole “I carry my weight well” rule. Well, the weight is a bit much. LOL! So, I have to get it off. Good ideas!
