End of Week Update
I did it! I finally signed up for Suburban Organics, organic produce delivery service. My first box comes on Tuesday and each Friday, you get an email letting you know what’s in your box. Since I’m back to work this week, I’m looking to sign other people up so that we could have a lil co-op here and get a discount. I’m really stoked (yes, I’m a white chick from The Hills) about this because it gives me the opportunity to play around with our veggies at dinner. Once I know what’s coming, I’ll probably spend tonight researching a few recipes onEpicurious, and then go shopping on Sunday.
Speaking of Epicurious, again? Yes!! I just love it. I saved all of the recipes from the 500-Calorie Diet to my recipe box, paid the $1.99 to sync my recipes across my iPad and iPhone and created shopping lists on both devices. So dig this, you save your recipe, let’s say Cappuccino Cheesecake Bars (which I made last night; post and pics this week) and then you organize the list by grocery aisle. Right there in the palm of your hand, you can go grab everything you need from produce, baking, rice, etc. Love!!! So now, what I’ll do is put in different veggies or fruits in the search and see what recipes I like that includes items from my produce box. When I’m shopping, I go for the usual suspects at the market and there isn’t much variation. Now we’ll get some variety and eat healthier!
I also placed my order on Suburban Organics and then discovered while browsing on their site that if I would’ve used the code “love”, $10 would’ve come off. I was pissed so I sent them an email yesterday and wham! Last night they emailed and was like “done” Sahhhweeet! I also like that you can cancel anytime and you don’t get charged for your box until the day after your delivery. Something about seeing my stuff first makes me happy. So feel free to use that code and spread some organic food love. Sign up for one month at least and see if you like it-can’t go wrong for $15. Did I mention the produce is 100% organic? No pesticides or any of that chemical nonsense. Bloodcleet!!! And, if you don’t like something in your box, your’e allowed 5 swaps. This week, I was going to get yukon potatoes and lemons. I swapped those out for anjou pears (making pear crisp) and red peppers (to dress up my egg whites). *Dougies*
A word: I know how this post could come across as sponsored but rest assured, I don’t do sponsored posts. I do get offers but that’s not the direction I want for this blog. When I really like something I like to share the knowledge. Now, if Suburban Organics came across this lovely post and opted to give my readers some sort of discount, then hell yes but as far as sponsoring a post to have me talk about them-I’ll pass. (Totally off topic but how many of y’all know the Lil’ Kim verse that starts: ‘I’ll pass…’) Good ol’ college days.
Ciao and have a great weekend!!
