Style File 2010: Marc Jacobs
I like to think of myself as a fashionable mom. I am not so much attracted to labels as I am quality. I don’t normally watch the runway for Fashion Week but this year, I have been keeping my eyes on my favorite designers to see what’s coming up for the Fall. My mother was and still is the best seamstress in the business. You would never know that moms sewed for the likes of Patricia Fields or that I spent many a night surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the garment district. At times, I do wish I was more into the industry but then I snap out of it and appreciate the fact that I am a customer.
I can’t give you any of the fashion language that normally accompanies a review of a line, I just know what I like and it’s that simple. I like minimalistic and clean. I envy those that are daring enough to rock the funky prints, with the loud hat and clog like boots but that’s not me. At first glance, you can tell I like to spend a little cash for my shoes but the same goes for my clothes. I have learned to invest in quality pieces that I can hand down to my soon-to-be fashionista daughter (if she ever has two kids and takes forever to lose the baby weight, she may just make a come up). I like trend too, but as of late, I spend more because more lasts longer and more is timeless. Mommy did say, ”everything old is new again” so my pieces will make a comeback.
So in honor of fashion week, let’s have a look at my first designer up for review: Marc Jacobs. By looking at his line, I am pleased that plaids are still in because I have a few plaid pieces that I bought last fall that I would love to run again. And the military look!! I am a big fan of a man in uniform (specifically a military uniform) Side blog: everyone should have a gay friend. If I were in NY, Marc Jacobs would be mine. He looks like so much fun.
