Savvy Noir | Target’s Debit Card

I love me some Target. For the longest I’ve wanted a Red Card, so that I too could save 5% on my Target bill. At one point my credit wasn’t right and now that it’s better, I’m wiser.  Do I really need a credit card to finance everyday purchasesSo I’m in there shopping today and something caught my eye-the Debit Card-no credit check, and all you need is a  blank check to verify the routing and account information. This is right up my alley. Here are a few of the benefits:

5% savings on each purchase. This is huge. As you know, I’m a couponing maniac now so tack on an additional 5% savings-sold! I don’t think this will last long though. When you think about it, retailers get charged a boat load of fees, so perhaps the debit card reduces the amount of transaction fees they are hit with.

Take Charge of Education program-Target is highly involved with volunteering/donating to local schools. With TCoE,  Target will donate up to 1 % of Target purchases to any school you choose (K-12). 1 % may initially seem small but think of how many people shop at Target. You could start a campaign at your local school and rake in the dough!! I’m so excited about this benefit.

The only downside pertains to those of us that don’t watch our accounts. The debits can take up to 5 days to post so if you aren’t careful, you could overdraft your account and pay fees out the wazoo.

If this sounds like it’s for you, then do like me and have at it! If you already knew about this and didn’t tell me, I’m heartbroken.
