Tech Noir: Eye-Fi Wireless Camera Card
There aren’t too many things I’m trying to be these days. Law school is on my bucket list as well as a better photographer. As I get ready for even more chaos-baby due in (7 weeks) I need to find ways to cut back on simple tasks. I swear I take a picture of the kids everyday and with this new baby on the way, that’s a lot more pics. The problem with sharing the pictures is having to uploadthem to the computer, then edit them and then share them. What if there was a way for the pictures to magically appear on my computer. It seems like the camera gods have been listening. After all, this was my idea (like Windows 7, tee-hee). Introducing Eye-Fi, wi-fi-enabled digital camera memory cards. Genius!!!!
All you have to do is replace your camera’s current card with one of Mountainview-based Eye-Fi’s new DSLR cards, and the uploading is automatic. No cable. Score!!! So here’s how it works: you’re out snapping photos from the latest soccer game (oh pretend you’re me), you get home, turn on your camera and go about your afternoon routine. By the time you get to your computer, pictures are already uploaded and your card is all clear so you can snap pics of that perfect roasted chicken.
You can also enable Eye-Fi to upload your images to most photo or video-sharing sites (Flickr, Picasa, Vimeo, YouTube., etc.). I plan on using it to upload images directly to iPhoto since that’s where I store my pics. Plus, each image is tagged with geographic data and a time stamp. Be sure to visit their site, you can check to see if the card is compatible with your current camera.
